Steven my Cousin

Today I am writing my blog in honour of my cousin Steven D Howard who officially has gone home to be with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He had a long life with many struggles but the Lord saw fit to get him through each and everyone of them. Steven you will be hugely missed but were very loved by many while we had you here on earth. I am thankful the Lord saw fit to give you the time he did with us. I have to admit I am a little jealous you will be able to meet Our Lord and Saviour first. Please give Auntie Renee, My momma and Grandma and Grandpa great big hugs and kisses from me. Until we meet again,
Love you, Christina

Rain, Rain and more rain......

Greetings from the great state of Florida,

What can we say rain, rain and more rain. Praising the Lord for all this great rain. Haiti too was hit by Hurricane Issac. There were aprox 6 people killed and many, many tent cities destroyed. Some flooding has been reported and some landslides too. Lots of crops damaged this will effect them down the road as they will not have crops to sell. This is there lively hood. What is a bad situation is now even worse. Please keep our people in Haiti in prayer. Jonathan and I are currently in Jacksonville, Florida. This last weekend was beautiful and very warm. Today (Monday) the bottom dropped. It has rained non stop since last night. Tropical storm Issac was first predicted to hit most of florida head on but now as you can see the Lord saw fit to change its path and now it seems it will hit Alabama and Louisiana instead. Praising the Lord for no major issues thus far with the weather. Lots of rain and some wind. Also our hearts are heavy tonight for two reasons. The first reason my cousin Steven Howard who is in the hospital in a medical induced coma. Today they will turn off his breathing machine. He will be very much missed but there is comfort in knowing I will be able to see him again one day. Please keep them in Prayer. The second reason we have a very big unspoken that the Lord knows about. Please keep the Wall family in Prayer.
I hope all who read my blog enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. Thankyou again for taking a moment to read.

AN UNEXPECTED GUEST

An Unexpected Guest
If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two
If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.
Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an honored guest,
And all the food you'd serve to Him would be the very best.
You would keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there,
That serving Him in your very own home is a joy beyond compare.

But when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door,
With arms outstretched in welcome for your heavenly visitor?
Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in,
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible instead
where they once had been?
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard?
And wish you hadn't uttered the last abrasive, hasty word?

Would you hide your music and lay some hymn books out,
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you wildly rush about?
I wonder if the Saviour spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
Would you still utter the things you oftentimes say,
And would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conservation keep up its usual pace,
Or would you find it nearly impossible to mutter a dinner's grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing,
And read the books you read,
And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go,
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you gladly have Him meet your very closest of friends,
Or would you hope they'd stay off in the distance
Until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know the things that you would do,
If Jesus Christ in the flesh came to spend some time with you.

It's been too long

It's been too long.......

These last couple of months have been busy. So thankful the Lord has allowed us to present in many churches. In June Jonathan and I had the chance to be in our annual mission candiate school this year. Each year they have ladies classes. This year Sister Terry Green taught a class on Hospitality. She read a book call Lackadaisical Love by Trish Rife. Let me tell you I have this book and have started reading it and already love it. Currently I am on the Hospitality is....selfless giving chapter. Hospitality is entertaining strangers or guests without reward, or with kind and generous liberality.

Philippians 2: 3&4
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

"Every man" in the above verse means every man and every women. We each have an obligation to look beyond ourselves and determine how we can impact someone else's life in a postive manner.
Jesus was consumed with others, and although we are sinners by nature and by choice, Jesus did not let the torturous circumstances and repercussions sway his decision to leave Heaven to come to our sin-saturated world. His sole motivation was others, and it was the motivating factor behind his actions. When we have a desire to better ourselves, God's example is always the best way.
Those who live for others have learned to place their own feelings on the back burner.
Here is another way to look at it "There are billions of planets revolving around billions of stars. They all revolve around one point in the universe, and that point is not you." And it's not me either!
Here are some small example's of Hospitality and kindness. A Pastor visiting your church. You could ask if there is a place they need to go or maybe they have laundry that needs to be done or clothes needed to be ironed. Remember Hospitality should leave the other person cared for, catered-to, and loved.
Have you been kind and go beyond what you would do for someone else. Im sure we could all work on this.
I hope this will be a blessing to someone and ask that you please continue to pray for Jonathan and I as we continue to travel and continue to visit churches and raise the support needed to get to Haiti. Asap.
